WC20 Cerium Tungsten Electrode for TIG Welding
The cerium tungsten electrode contains 2% cerium oxide. Cerium tungsten electrode is suitable for DC welding at low voltage, because it is easy to start arc at low voltage, and it is 10% lower than thorium tungsten at work. For pipeline welding, cerium tungsten electrode is the most popular, and it is also usually used to weld small parts. Compared with pure tungsten electrode, cerium tungsten electrode has lower burning rate or evaporation rate. As the content of cerium oxide increases, these advantages also increase. Cerium has the highest mobility, so at the beginning of welding, the welding performance is very good. Over time, as the crystal grains grow, the mobility will decrease significantly. However, under low voltage, the lifetime is longer than that of thorium tungsten electrodes. It is because of these characteristics that it is usually beneficial to short-cycle welding or specific welding volume before the electrode can be replaced. It is best to use thorium tungsten electrode or lanthanum tungsten electrode for high current and voltage welding. The cerium-tungsten electrode can also be used for direct current or alternating current, but it is mainly used for direct current welding, because the cerium-tungsten electrode is easy to split during AC welding.
Compared with thorium tungsten electrodes, cerium tungsten electrodes have the following advantages: thorium tungsten electrodes have slight radiation, and they can only operate under high current conditions. However, the cerium tungsten electrode is a non-radiative welding material and can be operated at low current. Cerium-tungsten electrode is the preferred alternative to thorium-tungsten electrode. In addition, the cerium-tungsten electrode has small cathode spots, low pressure drop, and no combustion, so it is the most widely used in argon arc welding.
Features:
1. No radiation, no radioactive pollution;
2. The electronic work function is low, and the performance of arc starting and arc stabilization is excellent;
3. The arc can be easily started with a small current, and the arc current is small;
4. Lower burning rate or evaporation rate, long service life
5. The cathode spot is small, the pressure drop is small, and it does not burn
